Wedding Check List

 Here's a check list that I thought might be helpful to brides trying to keep track of what wedding planning tasks need to be done and when certain vendors should be booked.

12 Months

  • Set your wedding date: pick a few days in case your first choice is booked
  • Decide on your wedding style
  • Begin making your guest list
  • Determine your budget and how expenses will be shared
  • Hire a wedding coordinator/consultant
  • Choose and reserve your wedding ceremony and reception locations
  • Select your Bridal Party
  • Select and book you Officiant
  • Determine your color scheme
  • Start attending Bridal shows to check out all wedding vendors in your area

9 Months

  • Meet with and reserve
  1. Photographer
  2. Videographer
  3. Caterer
  4. Wedding Cake Baker
  5. Florist
  6. DJ
  7. Limousine Service
  8. Ceremony Musicians
  • Have Engagement Photos taken
  • Send out Save the Dates
  • Place an Engagement announcement in your local newspaper
  • Say Yes to the Dress
  • Choose and purchase all other Bridal attire
  • Begin shopping for bridesmaids dresses
  • Start your gift registry
  • Start an exercise routine to get in great shape and relieve stress

6 Months

  • Select and book decorator
  • Finalize wedding guest list
  • Select and book honeymoon arrangements
  • Order Bridesmaid dresses
  • Reserve rental items
  • Experiment with hair styles
  • Select and order wedding invitations and other wedding stationary
  • Start making and reserving hotel accommodations for your guests
  • Shop for wedding gifts

4 months

  • Set the date,time and location for the rehearsal dinner
  • Select and order wedding bands
  • Finalize catering menu
  • Select and order ceremony necessities:
  1. Wedding programs
  2. Unity Candle
  3. Aisle runner
  4. Pew bows
  5. Ring bearer pillow
  6. Flower girl basket
  7. Garter
  8. Guest book and pen
  • Select and order reception necessities:
  1. Place Cards
  2. Napkins
  3. Favors
  4. Toast glasses
  5. Serving pieces
  6. Cake Top
  7. Decorations
  8. Centerpieces

3 Months

  • Select ceremony readers
  • Select ushers to seat your guests
  • Select guest book attendant
  • Select your MC
  • Start assembling your wedding invitations
  • Plan rehearsal dinner
  • Get confirmation from all wedding vendor
  • Book your hair and makeup stylist

2 Months

  • Mail out your wedding invitations
  • Write your wedding vows
  • Maintain a record of RSVP's
  • Finalize ceremony order with officiant
  • Apply for Marriage license
  • Schedule all fittings and alteration appointments
  • Decide on your hair and makeup styles
  • Write your toast and speeches

1 Month

  • Confirm duties with all wedding helpers
  • Finalize floor and seating plans
  • Get final head count of all attendees
  • Work with DJ on a list of songs
  • Have a final dress fitting
  • Confirm your photographer
  • Make a timeline for your wedding day to keep everything on schedule
  • Give a copy of wedding day timeline to all vendors
  • Pick up wedding rings
  • Make final payments to all vendors and prepare tips
  • Pick up and organize all wedding day attire
  • Assemble a wedding day emergency kit
